LARRAUL
Larraul is a beautiful village of Gipuzkoa, with 250 inhabitants in the
Aiztondo´s valley, Tolosa. It is near of the Cantabrian coast, in Ernio’s mount
at an altitude of 1067 meters, on a few natural terraces. Thanks to this they could have been employed at the
agriculture years after years. It is in a location
of strategic height which the forests
take a great part of the territory.
Before there were fewer inhabitants and in 1990 the population grow
because they built new houses. More of the half of the population have less
than 35 years and they have done new activities.
The most amazing thing of Larraul
is his ecomuseum. The aim was to recover the ethnographic pieces that
they disperse in the hamlets of the village. There
are the pieces given by the neighbors from 1998.
Furthermore, Larraul's ecomuseum has departed from a concept of new
museum. In fact, the natural and cultural territories, on the
one hand, and the community of the inhabitants and visitors, on the other hand,
they take in active way to stimulate the manners of life based on the resources
of around.
Nowadays, Larraul´s ecomuseum gives you the opportunity of knowing
Tolosaldea´s zone and at the same time how has change the countryside.
Unlike the traditional museums, this ecomuseum does not limit himself to
a showroom, and is open for other realities, activities and centers of interest.
If you go there, you get information of the past and present countryside. The
aim of them is to ignite the desires of thinking on the possibilities that we
have in the future.
